My horse Flint is over twenty years old and having had some injuries resulting in a very long break from lessons I was somewhat concerned that restarting with schooling and jumping again might be a step too far.  Flint was always a useful riding club allrounder who thoroughly enjoyed his job, but over recent months just hacking around the lanes had resulted in him beginning to feel incredibly dull and extremely bored.  So with some trepidation I asked Mark to help me gently ease Flint back into jumping again and he suggested we start with some polework introducing some suppling exercises along the way.   Mark was sympathetic in his approach, always taking into account Flint's age and limitations but at the same time getting us both motivated and most importantly having fun again.
We did flat work (dressage has never been our thing) but we thoroughly enjoyed it all and I always felt that we had achieved something new and worthwhile at the end of each lesson.  Mark also helped us with some trec obstacles but the biggest enjoyment came from the fact that Flint's enthusiasm completely returned and with Mark's encouragement and expert tuition we started jumping confidently again.  Mark is happy to come to my stables and teach or we can go to his yard where he has some lovely facilities and we have jumped his showjumps including the water tray.  That was something I didn't expect to achieve!
I can honestly say that both Flint and I have discovered a new lease of life since our lessons with Mark and we were out competing again at the odd event during the summer and in the ribbons too, something I had thought was consigned to history.
I can thoroughly recommend Mark as a teacher.  I find his lessons are fun and imaginative without being too demanding and he structures each lesson around the individual requirements of the horse and rider.  Well done Mark and a huge thankyou !!

Hi I would like to say a big thank you to Mark for jumping my young horse  with tact and style at the area 45 show. They both did very well. Thank you.

Mark's grasp of what is required for Trec in our training sessions has greatly improved my horse's way of going.  Our sessions will focus on obedience, straightness and impulsion whilst linking several Trec obstacles together to mimic what we may encounter in an actual competition.  Mark will readily ride my horse as well to better understand what is required for each obstacle; which is key for anyone training a top level Trec rider.  Flatwork centres around impulsion and balance which is very important for the Control of Paces.  Sometimes challenging and technical, my lessons keep my horse interested as they are so varied.  Mark is quiet and understanding and instills confidence to his clients.
